Hidden Gems. The Watches Nobody Talks About Enough.
Every collector knows the big names. The ones on every wrist, every magazine cover and every watch forum top ten list. We love them too. But this page is not about those watches.
This is about the ones hiding in plain sight.
I will be honest with you. I have owned more Rolex watches than I can count. And when you first get into watches seriously that is where your mind goes. The green dial Submariner (HULK) . The Day Date Platinum etc. They are beautiful watches and I have loved every one I have owned.
But after 40 years something shifts.
You start to realise it was never really about the name on the dial. It was never about how much it cost or whether the person across the table noticed it. The watches that have stayed with me the longest, the ones I reach for again and again, are not always the expensive ones.
Sometimes your best watch is a Grand Seiko or a basic one. Sometimes it is a micro brand that nobody has heard of yet. Sometimes it is a G-Shock that has been on every adventure with you and still keeps perfect time. The watch that means the most to you might have cost fifty pounds or fifty thousand. That is completely irrelevant.
What matters is the story. How it found you. What you felt when you put it on for the first time. What it reminds you of every time you look at your wrist.
That is what collecting is really about. And that is what Hidden Gems celebrates.
After 40 years of hunting through Hong Kong, Dubai, New York and the backstreet shops of the UK, I have found more joy in overlooked pieces than in any headline watch.
This page will grow as I share the pieces that stopped me in my tracks. The ones worth knowing about.
Watch this space.
